What kind of man are the 49ers getting in Dre Greenlaw? Father of Arkansas student claims Greenlaw prevented his daughter from potential assault
Dre Greenlaw earned the distinction of team captain his final season as a Razorback but based on the story recently shared by Gerry Dales, the linebacker from Fayetteville has been a leader dating back to his first season on campus.
If you missed it over the weekend, Greenlaw was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 5th Round with the No. 148 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. Following that development, Dales took to Twitter to share an incredible story that showcases the type of man the 49ers are getting in Greenlaw.
According to Dales, his daughter was a freshman at Arkansas the same year Greenlaw arrived on campus. The two freshmen knew each other from their time at Fayetteville High School and after an unidentified man slipped something in his daughter’s drink, it was Greenlaw that stepped in and prevented the situation from escalating beyond that point.
Dales shared the story in a series of tweets that can be seen below. He also explains that he did not share the story at the time of the incident:
My daughter went to a college party when she was freshman. She knew very few people at the party, and also didn't have a ton of experience drinking.
Someone slipped something into her drink when she wasn't paying attention.

And when that guy tried to steer my daughter out the front door, he stopped the guy and said "she's not going anywhere."

And he risked it for my daughter. The guy backed down, and no one saw him again. No one at the party seemed to know who he was, and my daughter and her friends never saw him again.

So, @DreGreenlaw – congratulations, and thank you.

If the 49ers were wondering what kind of man they were getting in Greenlaw, now they know thanks to Dales.
