Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs are down 16-6 at halftime to Missouri.
The Tigers whipped the Bulldogs in the first half of Saturday night’s SEC East showdown.
Just before going into his team’s locker room, Smart was asked about the first half struggle.
“Well, we’ve got to get some field position,” Smart said. “We started out in a hole with field position. We turned the ball over. They got all the momentum. We haven’t been able to reverse that. We’ve got to reverse the momentum and get some momentum back.”
“They’re knocking us off the ball,” Smart continued. “They’re whipping us up front, and you can’t win in the SEC unless you win the line of scrimmage.”
Quarterback Stetson Bennett struggled in the first half, completing just 10-of-23 passes for 149 yards. Georgia’s offense managed just 33 rushing yards against Missouri’s defense.
Still, there’s a lot of game left to be played, and Missouri is going to have to score touchdowns in the red zone, not settle for field goals.
