The Illinois Fighting Illini entered Saturday’s game against No. 6 Wisconsin without having beaten a ranked Big Ten team since 2007.

The Badgers got all they could handle, and then some, from the 2-4 Illini, leading 23-21 with 4 seconds left.

K James McCourt attempted a 39-yard field goal as time expired for Illinois and… it was good! Illinois 24, Wisconsin 23.

Wisconsin’s vaunted defense had given up only 29 points TOTAL in its first 6 games. It gave up 24 to Illinois.

It was a special homecoming win for the Illini and perhaps the biggest upset of the college football season so far.

That’s a huge win for coach Lovie Smith and his team, and it is a devastating loss for the Badgers.
