It’s a small wonder that this month’s LSU-Alabama game had so few penalties.

The division rivals lead the SEC in penalties per game entering Week 13, according to numbers from CFBStats.com. In the teams’ Nov. 3 meeting, they combined for just nine penalties for 75 yards, and they’ve stayed true to those low infraction numbers all season.

The table below shows where every SEC team currently ranks in penalties, ordered from fewest per game to most.

LSU and the pair of teams tied for 10th have a difference of just more than one penalty per game between them, but there’s a steep drop-off for the final three teams on the list. Ole Miss is at the bottom of the SEC with 7.7 infractions per game, a whole 2.3 penalties behind the first-place Tigers.
