Why? Florida, Dan Mullen getting hammered after fake punt call

The Florida Gators have turned it over three times in the first half against Auburn, but nothing has been worse than the fake punt.
Deep in its own territory, Florida punter Tommy Townsend inexplicably fakes the punt for a first down attempt, and got stopped well short of the first down. The very next play, Bo Nix threw a 32-yard touchdown pass.
Auburn hadn’t done much at all on offense, and the fake punt allowed the Tigers to get some momentum. Then, the offense hit the Gators defense with the long touchdown.
First, the fake punt:

Dan Mullen, up 14-6 at home, just went for a fake punt at his own 32. It failed, Auburn scored a TD and now Florida QB Kyle Trask is down with what looks like might be a season-ending injury. Yikes.

Auburn’s offense had done nothing so Florida tries a fake punt and gets stuffed. TD pass on the next play and now Auburn is within 14-13.
Don’t try to out think the room.
