Wildcats in Louisville? Selection Committee chair has ‘no problem’ with Kentucky being South’s No. 2 seed

The Kentucky Wildcats enter this week’s SEC Tournament with a chance to work their way up to the No. 1 seed line in the NCAA Tournament.

However, if they don’t win the title, the Wildcats will almost certainly be a No. 2 seed. Then, the question becomes about where they’ll end up.

On Wednesday, Selection Committee chair Bernard Muir said he’d have no problem with the Wildcats ending up in Louisville either as the No. 1 or No. 2 seed:

Stanford A.D. Bernard Muir, the chair of the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, said there would be no problem with bracketing Kentucky as a No. 2 seed with a path to Louisville. No issue with No. 1 seed wondering about fairness playing No. 2 UK in Louisville.

That would be a major advantage for the Wildcats if they’re a No. 2 seed. It would mean that the South’s No. 1 seed (Duke, potentially) would have to head to Louisville for a potential Elite Eight matchup.

Of course, Kentucky has to reach that point first, but with the way they’re playing this year, that’s certainly possible.
