Will Muschamp discusses leadership, how players have bounced back from Tennessee loss

As South Carolina looks to bounce back from the loss to Tennessee, coach Will Muschamp noted that the team wasn’t as sharp mentally.
The coach said on the SEC media teleconference that the Gamecocks were there physically, and had a competitive practice on Wednesday.
Muschamp has long maintained that his team has a good culture and the atmosphere in the locker room is strong, along with the leadership.
“We got guys to lean on in that locker room, that are all about the right things,” Muschamp said. “We are disappointed with where we are, but you are what your record is, and we are ready for Saturday night.”
Here’s what else Muschamp said on the call:
- On facing RPO offenses: I think, when I was at UT, we had Colt McCoy, Zack Robinson, RG3, Todd Reese, Graham Harrell at Tech, the SEC was two-back mantra. The key to be is getting pressure with 4, you have to play man-to-man, you have to have a team that tackles well in space. I think those are three critical things you have to have. You have to tackle and play in space… It changes how you recruit, as far as the players you are looking at.
- On LSU scoring at will: they have 3 wide receivers that are good, Joe Burrow has been good, they always had running backs, the left tackle is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time… they have some talent and have been doing some good things schematically.
- On how difficult to cover Jauan Jennings: We have played him for 3 years… number one he is competitive, whether he is blocking or catching the ball, he uses his body and both guys do that well.
- On Randrecous Davis and Brad Johnson: we will probably apply for a sixth-year of eligible for Davis, on Brad, we are hoping to get him back for four games and redshirt him.
