XFL St. Louis team selects former Alabama QB A.J. McCarron

A.J. McCarron is the newest St. Louis Battlehawk.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback was selected by the XFL team today. The XFL is expected to restart in February under the leadership of movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

McCarron, 32, was a fifth-round pick (164th overall) of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2014 NFL Draft. He has also spent time with the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans. McCarron had four starts (one postseason) during his NFL career.

He led the Crimson Tide to BCS championships in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He threw for 9,019 yards, 77 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 40 starts at Alabama.
