It was a win-win for Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The Tennessee product climbed into the No. 5 spot on the NFL’s all-time list for receptions by running backs in a 26-14 victory against the New York Giants.
The 30-year-old Kamara now only trails Keith Byars (610), LaDanian Tomlinson (624), Larry Center (761), and Marshall Faulk (767) in the NFL record books. Kamara surpassed Marcus Allen and Tiki Barber who each had 586 receptions.
Kamara finished the win with 55 yards from scrimmage (27 rushing, 28 receiving).
Kamara is definitely in line for the Saints’ Ring of Honor whenever he decides to hang it up. Kamara has made the Pro Bowl 5 times, beginning in 2017 when he was also selected as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The Saints drafted Kamara in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Kamara’s receiving ability has made him versatile. He’s had at least 75 receptions in 5 seasons and as many as 5 receiving touchdowns in 3 seasons.
Kamara played collegiately at Tennessee in 2015-16. Kamara amassed 1,294 yards with 16 touchdowns on the ground while also catching 74 passes for 683 yards and 7 scores as a Volunteer.
