Former South Carolina and Arkansas running back Rocket Sanders has been claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns after being released by the Los Angeles Chargers. The 2025 undrafted free agent rushed for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns during the preseason.
Reports indicate that Sanders is likely to be on the Browns’ practice squad to begin his career. The only other running backs on the Browns’ roster are Jerome Ford and fellow rookie Dylan Sampson.
The 6-foot Sanders played 3 seasons at Arkansas to begin his college career. Sanders appeared in 13 games as a true freshman with 578 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. He followed that up with his best college season, amassing 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground en route to being selected to the First-team All-SEC squad. Sanders was also chosen as the AP’s Comeback Player of the Year after battling back from an injury-plagued junior season.
During his lone season at South Carolina, Sanders had 881 rushing yards with 11 touchdowns as he was picked for the Second-team All-SEC squad.
The dynamic Florida native played high school football, basketball and track in Rockledge. As a high school football player, Sanders played running back, wide receiver, and linebacker.
