It’s not an April Fool’s Day prank. Hendon Hooker is heading back to the Volunteer State and will sign with the Tennessee Titans, according to a report from NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.

Hooker was most recently on the New York Jets’ practices quad, but will now back up Cam Ward in Nashville as the Titans embark on a new era. Tennessee recently updated its logo and jerseys and will be moving into a new stadium in 2027.

Of course, Hooker and the Volunteer State go way back. The former Vols QB was on trajectory to compete for a Heisman trophy before suffering a season-ending knee injury late in 2022. Across his 2 seasons at Tennessee, Hooker threw for over 6,000 yards, 58 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions while rushing for 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Hooker then took his talents to the NFL, where he’s seen limited action. He was originally drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions and spent 2 seasons with Detroit before being waived. He saw limited stints with the Panthers and Jets before Schultz’s report on Wednesday.
