Mac Jones shares reaction to Patriots OC Josh McDaniels leaving for head coaching job

Mac Jones will be adjusting to a new offensive coordinator this offseason as he prepares for Year 2 in New England. After a 10-season second stint with the Patriots (2012-21), Josh McDaniels has left to be the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
On Sunday, Jones shared his reaction to McDaniels’ departure during an ESPN segment with Adam Schefter.
“I think Josh is not only a great coach but a great person,” Jones told Schefter on ESPN, per NESN. “He means a lot to the Patriot organization and obviously he got a great opportunity here. He taught me a lot about football, a lot about life, a lot about the NFL. That’s really important to me. I know he means a lot to a lot of people and I’m happy for him and his family. We’ll just have to figure out a game plan and move forward and try and be explosive on offense and can get something going again like we did with Josh.”
Jones started all 17 games for New England this season, leading the Patriots to a 10-7 record. Jones was 352-of-521 passing for 3,801 yards, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. For Jones, it should be reassuring that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick believes in keeping the same system when hiring new coordinators. The NFL world will be watching to see who takes over as play-caller in New England.
