Jalen Hurts broke the scoring ice Sunday in a big way.

The former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback put his Philadelphia Eagles up 6-0 on the Los Angeles Rams by breaking off a 44-yard rushing touchdown. It’s the longest touchdown of Hurts’ career, which began in 2020.

The Eagles could not go up 7-0, as the extra point was missed after Hurts’ TD.

Hurts finished the regular season with 150 rushes for 630 yards and 14 touchdowns. His longest run of the season had been for 35 yards. In the playoff win over Green Bay, Hurts rushed just 6 times for 36 yards.

Hurts was efficient as a passer in 2024. He completed 68.7% of his passes (248-of-361) for 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. In the Green Bay game, Hurts was 13-of-21 for just 131 yards, but with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.

On the opening drive Sunday, Hurts was 3-of-3 passing for 25 yards. Philadelphia’s opening drive of 6 plays for 74 yards took 3:05 of game time.

Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams answered with a touchdown on their opening drive. With a good extra point, the Rams took a 7-6 lead in the 1st quarter. The game is airing on NBC.
