Marcus Freeman announces season-ending injuries for 2 Notre Dame starters
Marcus Freeman delivered some unfortunate injury news on Monday afternoon during his weekly press conference.
Freeman announced that starting center Ashton Craig is out for the season. Jordan Botelho, a starting defensive end, will also miss the remainder of the 2024 campaign with an injury.
To make matters worse for the Fighting Irish, right guard Billy Schrauth is expected to miss multiple weeks with an injury as well.

Craig is the second Notre Dame offensive lineman to be ruled out with a season-ending injury already this fall. Left tackle Charles Jagusah suffered an injury in fall camp that will keep him out for the season as well. With Schrauth also down, Notre Dame will enter Week 4 without 60% of its projected starters up front.
If there’s good news for Notre Dame, it’s that the Irish do have some depth on the interior of their offensive line. Pat Coogan and Rocco Spindler are expected to join Notre Dame’s starting unit for this week and both played a considerable number of snaps last season.
Notre Dame is coming off of a dominant win over Purdue in Week 3. The Fighting Irish will host Miami (Ohio) this upcoming weekend.
