CBS Sports analyst names biggest threat to Alabama in the SEC West in 2022
CBS Sports analyst Barrett Sallee picked Mississippi as Alabama’s biggest threat in the SEC West in 2022.
Sallee did not pick Texas A&M, who defeated Alabama in October 2021, to be the biggest threat to Alabama’s SEC West title run. Ole Miss went 10-3 in 2021 and finished with a 6-2 conference record. In 2021, Ole Miss won 10 games for the first time since 2015.
Sallee’s comments came during an appearance on WJOX on Tuesday:
.@BarrettSallee of @CBSSports joined @McMattRadio to share which SEC West team poses the greatest challenge to @AlabamaFTBL in 2022… and it's probably not who would would expect.

When Ole Miss played Alabama on Oct. 2, 2021, the Rebels lost 42-21 in Tuscaloosa. The Rebels then closed out the regular season with 7 wins in the final 8 games. Sallee saw promise in the upcoming season for Ole Miss.
“It’s gonna be a long-shot, but if I had to say somebody, it’s gonna be Ole Miss,” Sallee said. “A. The schedule is relatively easy, and I actually ranked the strength of schedules in the SEC on the website today. B. You get Alabama at home, and C. you get them after a bye week, and it’s late in the year.”
Ole Miss will host Alabama on Nov. 12. That could be a deciding game in the SEC West.
