Ole Miss star receiver Laquon Treadwell is a 6-2, 220-pound playmaking machine. He’s a matchup nightmare and future first-round pick.

He’s all of that … plus six points.

So the question is, how do you keep the SEC’s most dangerous pass catcher out of the end zone?

My job at South Carolina was to throw touchdown passes, not prevent them, so I enlisted the help of a guy who knows what it’s like to stare down trouble on the outside: former Alabama All-American cornerback Javier Arenas.

We set up three specific situations — press coverage, off-coverage and a red zone situation — and asked Arenas to walk us through how he would attempt to slow down Treadwell. He broke each scenario down on the video, explaining coverage concepts and the cornerback’s goal.

Arenas was quick to note you don’t stop a guy like Treadwell. He’s going to make his plays. Your goal as a defense is to minimize the number of explosive plays.

Maybe his advice will help Texas A&M, Auburn, Arkansas, LSU and Mississippi State, the remaining SEC teams that will have to deal with Treadwell this season.
