After a huge mental lapse in Saturday’s game between Ole Miss and Texas A&M, Shemar Turner took the high road and apologized for punching Rebels’ offensive lineman Micah Pettus.
In the 3rd quarter of the tight contest, Turner’s frustrations boiled over and he took a shot at Pettus after the play, and he was ejected from the game. On Sunday he posted an apology for his actions.
I want to apologize for embarrassing myself, my family, and my team! My actions were unacceptable and stupid. I have to understand what teams are gonna try to do to get me out my game I let my emotions get the best of me won’t happen again period… #GigEm

On Tuesday, Lane Kiffin, who is very active on social media, posted his reaction to Turner’s apology. The coach appreciated Turner taking the high road, and wished him good luck the rest of the season.

While the move was definitely poor judgement on Turner’s part, he recognized his mistake and owned up to it, and it seems like the Rebels’ head coach has forgiven him.
Aside from Saturday’s mistake, Turner has had a solid season with 27 tackles and 5 sacks. The Aggies are looking for a big win on Saturday against Mississippi State.
Ole Miss has one of its biggest games of the season this week against Georgia. The Rebels are looking for a signature win on the road in Athens.
