Ole Miss may have finally lost a party.

Following the Southeastern Conference’s decision to leave stadium capacity up to individual schools on Monday, news has begun to trickle out across the league regarding fan capacity at a number of schools.

Until Thursday, there was no news regarding the capacity of Davis-Wade Stadium or Vaught Hemingway Stadium but that has now changed.

On Thursday, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves announced all football stadiums in the state will be limited to 25 percent capacity and that no tailgating will be permitted at either Ole Miss or Mississippi State.

During his Thursday appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show,” Lane Kiffin offered his support on the decision from Reeves.

“It is what it is and, you know, good decision, based off of social distancing issues at the spread,” Kiffin said. “A lot of decisions are being made like that, you know, people aren’t happy with, but people really aren’t for the most part, following protocol with Corona. And everyone’s talking about the students but I drive to downtown or I see pictures on the internet, most adults aren’t following either. So that makes it really difficult to open up the Grove.”

This decision is on par with what we’ve seen around the SEC in recent days.

Here are the latest stadium capacity figures from around the SEC:

  • Tennessee: 25%
  • Texas A&M: 25% (initially this figure was 30%)
  • Missouri: 25%
  • Ole Miss: 25%
  • Miss State: 25%
  • Georgia: 20-25%
  • Arkansas: 21-23%
  • Alabama: 20%
  • Auburn: 20%
