When you lose a football game 66-3, all you can do is tip your hat and try to move on.

That’s what coach Matt Luke and the Ole Miss Rebels will try to do after their blowout loss at the hands of No. 1 Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the Rebels’ disappointing 66-3 loss in his postgame press conference (via AL.com):

On Alabama’s dominant performance:

“Credit to Alabama. They’re a really good football team. No. 1 in the country for a reason. They beat us soundly in all three phases — offense, defense, kicking game. I thought the biggest difference for us in the first half was we had a turnover for a touchdown. They were able to stay on the field, and we weren’t. A lot of credit to those guys, though. They’re a very good team in all phases. The most important thing for us moving forward is to watch this tape and flush it and move on to the next one.”

On moving forward from the huge loss:

“We’ve still got eight games to go and eight chances to win, and I think that’s the most important thing.”

On Alabama CB Levi Wallace’s pick-six (and the Rebels’ missed interception opportunity):

“We just talked about playing one play at a time. You have to make those plays and can’t turn it over for a touchdown. They throw you (an interception opportunity), and if we catch that, it’s a big turning point in the game. You have to take advantage of every opportunity and we didn’t tonight.”

The Rebels play at Auburn next weekend, so the schedule doesn’t get any easier for Luke’s squad. If they can’t figure out some things on both sides of the ball, another lopsided score could be in their future.
