How bad is Ole Miss hoping to keep Cam Akers home? Even Rebel players are doing anything they can to show the five-star Mississippi running back from Clinton how much they care.

When Akers kicked off his senior season of prep football Thursday night, a number of Ole Miss players showed up to attend the game including starting quarterback Chad Kelly, defensive linemen Benito Jones, Breeland Speaks, Isacc Gross, Garrald McDowell and linebacker Temario Strong all showed up for Clinton’s game against South Panola.

While Akers is projected to play running back at the next level, he currently plays quarterback for Clinton. During his first game of the season, Akers threw two touchdowns and ran for another three. Check out his highlights from Thursday night:

Heading into the season, Akers is rated as the No. 2 running back in the nation, Mississippi’s No. 1 overall prospect and No. 7 overall prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports Composite Ratings. Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Florida State and Ohio State are listed among Akers favorites to sign him.
