Three-star defensive back Myles Hartsfield has committed to Ole Miss, he announced on Twitter on Tuesday night:

The New Jersey cornerback had previously committed to Penn State, but the scholarship was pulled because he attended Sayreville High School in New Jersey. The school was embroiled in scandal throughout the season after allegations emerged that members of the football team had sexually abused and hazed younger members of the team. The season was canceled midway through.

Hartsfield had amassed 732 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns in three games before his senior season was canceled.

“His final year at Sayreville was filled with team controversy, so any school that is going to offer him will do their due diligence to make sure he fits into the program beyond the field,” Scout.com analyst Brian Dohn previously told MyCentralJersey.com. “On the field, he’s a tremendous talent.”

It would appear Ole Miss was satisfied with its research into Hartsfield and whether or not he was involved in the controversy. Hartsfield visited during Ole Miss’ win over LSU and committed Tuesday, giving the Rebels a big-time athlete.

It looks like Hartsfield will play in the secondary for Mississippi.
