Freshman running back Justin Connor has left Ole Miss after attending summer classes and plans to enroll at East Mississippi Community College, according to David Johnson of Rebels247.

Connor signed with the Rebels in February and rated as a four-star recruit. He ranked as the No. 14 running back and No. 324 overall prospect for the 2016 national recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rating.

Ole Miss also planned to use Connor as a cornerback. The Mississippi native was the only cornerback in the Rebels’ 2016 recruiting class, which also featured four safeties.

Ole Miss is expected to start senior Tony Bridges and junior Kendarius Webster at cornerback, but lack depth beyond sophomore Cam Ordway and redshirt freshman Jalen Julius.

Connor was expected to grayshirt in 2016, but would have joined the football program and be placed on scholarship the following season, according to Rebels247.

As a senior, Connor rushed for 1,640 yards and 14 touchdowns and was a second-team All-State player.
