A four-star offensive tackle from South Florida is considering staying close to home, playing in the SEC or going to Michigan.

Kai-Leon Herbert of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. tweeted his top six, and it appears to be a final six as he states “these are the schools I will look further into regarding my decision.”

Herbert, listed at 6-foot-4, 277 pounds, named UF his leader back in April, but it looks like Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee are still in the mix. Since Herbert said he favored the Gators, Michigan has visited him and will see the American Heritage product again on June 17 for an unofficial visit.

It’s no surprise that teams are turning to their best South Florida recruiters to land Herbert. Florida is hoping that former Miami coach Randy Shannon, now a linebackers coach with the Gators, can convince Herbert to come up to Gainesville instead of signing with the nearby Canes. Tennessee is sending area ace recruiter Zach Azzanni to assist position coach Don Mahoney.

In March, Herbert was a top performer at Nike’s “The Opening” regional competition camp in Miami, earning an invite to the camp’s national finals in July at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
