The annual end-of-season firing spree is well underway across the NFL, as at least eight teams are looking for new head coaches.

Since the end of the regular season, the Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired their head coaches, and that follows earlier dismissals by the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns.

A lack of playoff appearances by the Jets and playoff wins by the Bengals are the key reasons for the firings. But Vance Joseph’s 11-21 record in Denver over two years, and Steve Wilks’ 3-13 mark in Arizona in one season were also highlighted as key factors. Adam Gase leaves Miami after three seasons and a 23-26 mark.

Marvin Lewis in Cincinnati was the second longest-tenured coach in the league, and made the playoffs seven times. Before he arrived in 2003, the Bengals hadn’t had a winning season in 12 years. The Bengals were 6-10 this season, but Lewis finished with a 131-122-3 record, the winningest coach in franchise history.

Todd Bowles leaves the Jets after a 4-12 record this year, which followed 5-11 marks the previous two seasons. Tampa, meanwhile, released Dirk Koetter after a 2-0 start preceded losses in 11 of the next 14 games. He was 19-29 over with the Bucs.

Green Bay and Cleveland were the first to begin their coaching searches after they let go of Mike McCarthy and Hue Jackson during the season.
