The Associated Press released its All-SEC team for the 2016 season on Thursday.
Alabama true freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year as well as Newcomer of the Year and Crimson Tide defensive lineman Jonathan Allen was chosen for the league’s top defensive player.
Nick Saban, to no shock, received acknowledgment for the conference’s top coach with a 13-0 record and No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming College Football Playoff.
The consensus label is awarded to players who make three of the five following All-America teams: Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America, Walter Camp Football Foundation and the Sporting News. Unanimous All-Americans are those named to all five teams.
