Which school had the best year in college sports for the 2015-16 athletic calendar?

CBS Sports took The National Association of College Directors of Athletics‘ formula of ranking athletic programs by weighing every sport equally, tweaked it by putting a heavier lean toward sports that generate the broadest base of fan and media interest to come up with a “Best in College Sports” award.

“For our formula (which takes into account only schools that field FBS football programs): we weighed football worth 2.5 times as much as the other sports, while men’s basketball is worth twice as many points,” CBS’ formula reads. “Teams that didn’t finish in the final AP Top 25 in football but played in a bowl were awarded 62.5 points (25 x 2.5). Teams that made the NIT, CBI or CIT were given 20 points (10 points times two), while WNIT teams received 10 points.”
