CBS Sports updates SEC bowl projections after Week 5
We’re just 5 weeks into the 2021 college football season, but fans and experts everywhere are looking at the postseason picture.
CBS Sports expert Jerry Palm updated his Bowl Season forecast after Week 5’s games. Noticeably absent from Palm’s projections is LSU. Ed Orgeron’s squad dropped to 3-2 with Saturday’s loss to SEC West rival Auburn. LSU has a difficult 5-game stretch coming up against Kentucky, Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama and Arkansas. It appears Palm doesn’t see the Tigers getting to bowl eligibility in 2021.
Palm still has 2 SEC teams in the College Football Playoff and another conference team making a New Year’s Six (NY6) bowl.
Here are Palm’s full SEC projections:
Orange Bowl (CFP Semifinal) vs. Oklahoma
Sugar Bowl (NY6) vs. Texas
Texas Bowl vs. Baylor
Outback Bowl vs. Michigan
Cotton Bowl (CFP Semifinal) vs. Iowa
Citrus Bowl vs. Michigan State
Liberty Bowl vs. Iowa State
Birmingham Bowl vs. Kent State
Gator Bowl vs. Wake Forest
Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs. North Carolina
Music City Bowl vs. Minnesota
