Cole Cubelic shares SEC takeaways following Week 5 games
Cole Cubelic’s takeaways are a Sunday tradition in the SEC football world.
Cubelic was back at it Sunday afternoon, sharing his assessment of the 12 SEC teams in action in Week 5 while Tennessee and Vanderbilt were off.
Week 5 in the SEC was spread out from Thursday to Sunday thanks to Hurricane Ian. Here’s what Cubelic had to say about all the performances:
ARKANSAS: Had a shot. 42 out of this world. Tackling overall just not good enough. Did not manage edge’s crashing mesh well. OL was solid, nice games for 78/51/62. WRs couldn’t consistently separate. RBs brought it.

FLORIDA: Handled their business. Efficient/balanced on off. AR got it going right out of the gate. Creativity led to explosives. Left side of OL really coming on. Defense solid vs a tricky offense. Valuable reps for 11. Another solid game for 33 on def. Lot of snaps to go around

KENTUCKY: Tough loss. Lot of fight. Run game better. TO’s killer. Have to protect QB, parts of that can easily repaired. 24 def helped. RBs have great effort. Not sure BBN seen a WR group like this, have serious juice, keep feeding them. Eyes played tricks on 2nd/3rd level of def

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Arnett dialed in. Got caught on a few cut back runs but thats being aggressive. Big games for 13 & 14 on def. Pressures were precise. Tackled extremely well. Love the designed runs. Right side of the OL brings some nasty! 2 solid but fortunate on a few misses.

OLE MISS: Huge win. Dominating @ home. QB maneuverability really helped. Didn’t over think the run game. I love 4. OL scrappy. QB made some BIG TIME throws but still gets risky. Picks just bad. WRs helped w/tough grabs. Big game from 11 on def. Front was a problem most of the day

TEXAS A&M: Off has to alter the presentation. Not enough in pass protection. QB taking way too many hits. Need more catch & run. 6 is dynamic. Can make everyone right even if wrong. Still get flashes from 10/5/18 on def but need consistency. Can’t win turning it over like that.
