SEC fans had a lot of reason to celebrate this bowl season.

The conference won a record eight bowl games and SEC fans always let opponents know which conference is dominating these games. This is the one time each year where conference rivalries get put aside in the name of conference pride.

ESPN analyst Danny Kanell does not like this. He found the SEC cheer throughout the conference Arkansas’ Liberty Bowl win over Kansas State to be a bit much.

Maybe Kanell did not realize the record the SEC had just set — winning its record eighth bowl game of the season and going 8-2 — or maybe he was simply trolling, playing his role on the ESPN Twittersphere.

Or maybe Kanell was making a statement about the saturation of bowl games. There were a lot of instances this bowl season (and every bowl season) of 7-5 teams celebrating like they won a championship for defeating a 6-6 team. Three five-win teams won bowl games this year and their fans likely had the same reaction to getting to 6-7 with a bowl win.

Whatever the case, Kanell probably heard it from SEC fans:

Well, there is one more “bowl” game left for the SEC. Alabama takes on Clemson in the National Championship Game next Monday.
