Deion Sanders is a constant promoter of all things HBCUs, and that includes postseason showcase games.

Sanders, commonly known as Coach Prime, spoke on the AP Pro Football Podcast, and suggested that HBCUs should get more exposure by playing higher-profile programs.

“I would love to namesake an All-Star game that the SWAC plays against all the other schools, HBCUs against all the other schools,” he said. “I don’t like when we have an HBCU game, and we play against each other. Why don’t we play against the other talent, because that’s the thing, you said we weren’t talented. I would love it, that’s what I would like for us to put together our All-Star team and we play one of the bowl games that they play after the season.”

Sanders has tried to level the playing field for Jackson State and the HBCUs in his SWAC conference and beyond, and he’s tried to do that in several areas, including recruiting. When he landed 5-star recruit Travis Hunter, Sanders served notice that Jackson State and other HBCUs can deliver when given the chance.
