DFS Picks of the Week: Our top Underdog plays for college and NFL, Sept. 7-8
We’re gearing up for one of the best football weekends of the entire year. College football is in Week 2 with some big-time matchups. Meanwhile, NFL action kicked off on Thursday, but there’s a full slate of games on Sunday, followed by Jets-49ers on Monday night.
Underdog Fantasy is the place to be for football fans. The popular daily fantasy sports (DFS) app has hundreds, if not thousands, of picks that you can make when crafting your contests.
Our DFS experts — Andrew Olson and Adam Spencer — will share their 3 favorite CFB picks and their 2 best NFL picks each week. Keep reading below to see who they’re going with this weekend.

Our Week 2 CFB Picks
Andrew Olson
Quinn Ewers, Texas QB: Higher than 245.5 pass+rush yards
Big House? Big whoop. I kid, I kid — no disrespect to the iconic stadium in Ann Arbor. But, I do like Ewers to have a strong outing, as I don’t see him getting rattled by the hostile environment.
Brock Vandagriff, Kentucky QB: Higher than 206.5 pass yards
South Carolina allowed 197 passing yards at home against Old Dominion. With Big Blue Nation behind Vandagriff, 207 feels attainable for the Georgia transfer QB.
Tre Harris, Ole Miss WR: Higher than 0.5 rush+receiving TDs
In Ole Miss’s loaded receiver room, Harris is the production leader with 8 catches for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 1. The guy is special, and I just have a hard time seeing Middle Tennessee being able to keep him out of the end zone all day.
Adam Spencer
Donovan Edwards, Michigan RB: Lower than 71.5 rush+receiving yards
I’m also going with a pick from the big Texas-Michigan game. I’ll take the Wolverines’ running back to struggle. He didn’t look good in Week 1 against Fresno State. The Longhorns’ defense is a different animal entirely. Give me Edwards to finish with 71 or fewer combined rush+receiving yards on Saturday afternoon.
Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State RB: Higher than 128.5 rush yards
I expect Gordon to get a ton of work this weekend against Arkansas. The Hogs looked good in a 70-0 Week 1 win, but this is a major step up in competition. Gordon should get going early, putting up plenty of first-half rushing yards and then cruising his way to 129+ total rushing yards before all is said and done.
Brady Cook, Mizzou QB: Higher than 2.5 pass TDs
The Tigers look to build off a dominant 51-0 win over FCS foe Murray State to start the season. This game should be a little bit closer on the scoreboard when the final whistle sounds, but Mizzou should still win comfortably. Look for Cook to spread the ball around, finding guys like Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr. for TDs in this matchup.
Our Week 1 NFL Picks
Andrew Olson
Stefon Diggs, Houston Texans WR: Higher than 11.25 fantasy points
I always like stars on new teams to show up big in the first game. I chose the fantasy points option for the flexibility in production.
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons TE: Higher than 45.5 receiving yards
Lucky you, Kyle, you have a real quarterback in Atlanta. It’s time to remind everyone why you were a high pick coming out of Florida and why so many of us keep selecting you in fantasy drafts.
Adam Spencer
Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins WR: Higher than 0.5 rush+receiving TDs
Hill was voted by his peers as the No. 1 player in the NFL for a reason. The guy makes big plays and scores touchdowns, plain and simple. He should be good for at least 1 score on Sunday against the Jaguars, whether it comes as a runner or a receiver.
Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks QB: Higher than 235.5 pass yards
I’m high on the Seahawks this season. I think the new coaching staff is going to unlock this offense, which ran the fewest plays per game last year. Against a Denver squad that is rebuilding, I’ll take Geno Smith to have a solid day through the air, throwing for 236+ pass yards.
