Many college football fans raised their eyebrows when they saw that ESPN was going to host College GameDay in Times Square.

What ensued was certainly an interesting version of the popular show, as fans of teams from all across the country flocked to the set to show support for their squads.

Was it better than having it on a college campus, though? At least one ESPN executive thinks it was, telling the Chicago Tribune that the energy was better than it’s ever been before and that the show wants to come back:

“How awesome was that?” asked Lee Fitting, the ESPN executive who championed the show’s first foray into Manhattan. “The energy here, it’s greater than we’ve had on any college campus. We’ll be back here. And Chicago. Chicago is next on the hit list!”

Chicago? New York City? It’ll be interesting to see if the show expands into even more metropolitan, non-campus areas. (Washington D.C., maybe?)

Whatever the case, Fitting’s comments aren’t likely to please college football diehards.
