One of the greatest things about college football is the endless debates that exist around the sport. During the seemingly never-ending offseason, debates among die-hard fans are often the thing that keeps the sport in the forefront of conversation on a yearlong basis.

With this being the final week before fall camps begin to open across the nation, ESPN has set out to create some new conversation with a piece centering on college football’s greatest championship teams over the previous 20 seasons — no, UCF is not listed but that’s a debate for another day. ESPN claims to have used advanced analytics and a model to come up with these results, but the fact remains that regardless of the tools or methods used to come up with their selections, fans are going to find ways to poke holes in some of the selections — if not them all.

According to ESPN’s methodology, Vince Young’s-Texas led team from 2005 is the best title team the sport has seen over the last two decades. Coming in at No. 2 on the list (and No. 1 from the SEC) is Tim Tebow/Urban Meyer-led Florida team from 2008.

Here’s an overview of where every SEC team on ESPN’s list of the greatest teams spanning the previous two decades ranks:

No. 2 — 2008 Florida

No. 6 — 2011 Alabama

No. 7 — 2012 Alabama

No. 8 — 2015 Alabama

No. 9 — 2009 Alabama

No. 11 — 2017 Alabama

No. 15 — 2010 Auburn

No. 17 — 2003 LSU

No. 18 — 1998 Tennessee

No. 19 — 2007 LSU

No. 20 — 2006 Florida
