Gregory Smith III, 2024 safety and SEC target, pushes commitment date
Gregory Smith III has pushed back his commitment date.
The 3-star defensive back will announce his college decision on Dec. 20, which is the beginning of the Early Signing Period. Smith also released his list of 6 finalists, which includes a trio of SEC programs.
Smith is still considering Florida, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Toledo and South Florida. He was previously set to announce his decision on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Smith is fresh off of an official visit to Gainesville. He was on campus this past weekend and is a major target for Florida in this recruiting class.
Smith is the No. 542 overall player and the No. 40 athlete in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 68 player from the state of Florida.
Although he’s classified as an athlete, Smith projects to be a defensive back at the next level. He also plays quarterback for Sumner High School in Riverview, Florida. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds.
