The 2020 Heisman Trophy will be awarded to either Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence, DeVonta Smith or Kyle Trask it was revealed Thursday night. While voting is over, the most common reaction by the media is the expectation of one of the closest votes in recent years.
Kyle Trask’s remarkable journey from high school backup to finalist for college football’s marquee individual award is also a popular media, especially those who cover Florida. Some are disappointed that players such as BYU QB Zach Wilson and UF tight end Kyle Pitts only made the top ten but missed the cut-off to be named a finalist. Similarly, there’s some surprise that Najee Harris came in at No. 5.
Here’s a sample of the media reaction on Twitter:
Mac Jones, Kyle Trask, DeVonta Smith and Trevor Lawrence are the Heisman finalists, not in any order.
The expected four, but this is the toughest pick for a winner in years.

DeVonta Smith should win the Heisman this year. He had an unreal season and was the best player in the country. https://t.co/3KYjM7vdpr

Tightest race we’ve seen in a while…like splitting hairs.
Najee got snubbed though. https://t.co/OKyIdqF7Lp

Happy for all the Heisman Trophy finalists. Disappointed Najee Harris isn’t included, but he was deserving. Maxwell Award?

Najee Harris was my preseason pick (since April) to win the Heisman.
I could make the case for or against him to be higher on the list, but considering his odds before the season I'm going to take a victory lap that he finished 5th. https://t.co/Fupz5R1JEu

I don't have a Heisman vote but if I did my top five (because that's what it should be) would be (I think):
Trevor Lawrence, Clemson
DeVonta Smith, Alabama
Kyle Pitts, Florida
Zach Wilson, BYU
Zaven Collins, Tulsa— Ralph D. Russo (@ralphDrussoAP) December 25, 2020
I think there is enough momentum for Smith that he will win the Heisman, which is a good thing. As much as I would vote Trevor it would have been a tough call between him and Smith and it would be cool to see a non-QB win it.

Huge fan of this new Heisman finalists reveal format. Usually the rest of the voting results get glossed over but this gives time to highlight the rest of the Top 10

Very curious how close Najee Harris was to actually cracking into the top four of the voting.

July 12, 2015: Manvel High senior QB Kyle Trask at the #tx7on7 championships. Had offers from Lamar, McNeese State and Houston Baptist.

Pretty remarkable. pic.twitter.com/aOiOoMIMJ4

Zach Wilson 8th and Kyle Pitts 10th? I’ve seen enough. Whole vote’s a sham. Heisman is cancelled.

I'm not gonna lie, I was definitely a little bit worried that Kyle Trask wasn't going to be named a Heisman finalist after that ESPN graphic.
I'm sure I wasn't alone.

Najee Harris is 5th in Heisman Voting….. I don't get it. pic.twitter.com/NZmMF1dYYy

If 2020 gets final word, I can see it now: Ohio State wins national title, and Lawrence wins Heisman :)
— Scott Carter (@GatorsScott) December 25, 2020
From a three-star high school backup that nobody other than Florida wanted to a Heisman finalist. A story that may never be matched.
— Ethan Hughes (@ethanhughes97) December 25, 2020
I can see this Heisman vote being close if Jones and Smith split a lot of votes
— David Waters – Gators Breakdown (@GatorDave_SEC) December 25, 2020
Kyle Trask finishing in the top four and as a finalist for this year’s Heisman Trophy is the just outcome. Only wish is that a trip to New York came with that.

I agree. He should have been higher than 10. https://t.co/Ga97bo0jzn

Quarterback B: 72.6% completion pct,
1521 pass yards (253.5 y/g), 20 total TDs, 5 INT.Quarterback B finished higher in the Heisman voting than A.

And there's literally precedent for a Florida quarterback winning the Heisman in a season with multiple losses
— Tom Green (@Tomas_Verde) December 25, 2020
All 4 finalists are deserving players.
I’m going to address an argument I keep hearing. Since Joe Burrow keeps coming up…People seem to hold UA’s talent against their candidates, but Burrow had CEH, J. Jefferson, J. Chase & a Joe Moore Award OL and no one said boo about it. https://t.co/AzExiEs1oi
