The breadth of knowledge possessed by several contestants on the long-running game show “Jeopardy!” is amazing.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t always extend to the sporting world, though. That was evident on Thursday night, when a $400 clue in the category “‘A’ Is For Autumn” was selected in the opening round.

The answer: “Each fall Alabama and this SEC football archrival meet in ‘the Iron Bowl.'”

Of course, the correct response is Auburn, which practically everyone in the state of Alabama knows from birth, much less every SEC fan. Unfortunately, none of these contestants knew.

Credit to Robert and Sara, who didn’t buzz in and lose $400 with a wildly incorrect guess like Sameer did. At the end of the day, one of these players redeemed themselves and ended up winning a good amount of money.

It’s clear, though, that despite demonstrating their intellect to get themselves on the show, their knowledge of rather basic college football facts needs some brushing up.
