Joel Klatt identified a common theme for this college football team, and it centers on Central Florida fans complaining about the landscape of how the College Football Playoff teams are picked.

The Fox Sports analyst said UCF supporters will promote the idea of an underdog story and that the Knights deserve it given their record, often looking past their schedule strength.

“I’m here to tell you no,” Klatt said.

Klatt referred to UCF Athletics Director Danny White’s recent letter to the crew at ESPN’s “College GameDay” in which he described the Knights as victims.

“I’m not here to give you a handout, Danny White,” Klatt said. “Quite frankly, you should stop asking for a welfare spot in the College Football Playoff. You already have a welfare spot in the New Year’s Six bowls, you occupied that spot last year. Good for you. And you beat Auburn. Good for you. None of that means you deserve inclusion into the four-team College Football Playoff, which right now is supposed to be the four best teams in college football.”

But if there was anything that fired up Klatt as much as the UCF lobbying efforts, it’s the bias the CFP committee has toward the SEC.

Some of the most overvalued teams are from the SEC, including LSU, Kentucky and Florida. With the best teams regardless of record, undefeated, one loss, two loss or three loss, all from the SEC, the deck is stacked in favor of the conference, he said.
