Tunmise Adeleye is a 4-star defensive end in the class of 2021. Per the 247Sports composite rankings, he’s the No. 33 prospect in the nation and the No. 4 overall strong-side defensive end.

Adeleye committed to Ohio State last month and is part of the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class. However, before that, he took a couple of visits to Texas during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Below, you can see that he was asked about why he didn’t commit to the Longhorns on Instagram on Tuesday. And, he had a great answer, citing Texas’s failure to develop 4- and 5-star prospects into NFL Draft picks the past 5 years. To be fair to the current Texas coaching staff, Tom Herman has only been in Austin for 3 seasons. Thus, this year, his first recruiting class will be seniors.

Can Herman and his staff start reversing this worrying trend that is apparently hurting them on the recruiting trails? We’ll find out starting with the 2021 NFL Draft.
