The SEC is loaded with talented underclassmen and saw a flood of juniors enter the NFL draft last spring, but there are still plenty of great fourth-year players on the fields and getting the job done in the conference this season.

Here at Saturday Down South we don’t want to overlook the veterans who have paid their dues and are seeing it come together in their final season. Here’s a look at five of the best senior performances from Week 2:

KENTRELL BROTHERS

There’s a good chance Missouri wouldn’t have escaped an upset to Arkansas State without Brothers on the field. The linebacker had 16 tackles for the second consecutive game, 10 of them solo. He also had a pair of interceptions as the Tigers were barely able to hold on for a 27-20 victory. Mizzou has some issues, but Brothers is yet another bona fide star for the Tigers on defense.

KENYAN DRAKE

The Alabama senior running back is quickly establishing himself as the Crimson Tide’s most explosive offensive player. Saturday against Middle Tennessee State the Tide had success figuring out ways to get the ball into Drake’s hands. He had 40 rushing yards on six carries and racked up 91 yards on five receptions, including a 69-yard dash on a shovel pass that nearly got him into the end zone and set up a score for Derrick Henry.

CODY CORE

The Ole Miss wide receiver has been a big part of the Rebels’ huge offensive production the first two weeks. Saturday in the 73-21 victory against Fresno State, Core had six catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. He ranks second the SEC in receiving yards heading into Saturday’s blockbuster showdown at Alabama.

DE’VANTE HARRIS

Texas A&M took criticism for being unable to snag many interceptions last year, but Harris got the job done Saturday against Ball State. The 56-23 blowout, which was really even worse than the score indicated, gave starters such as Harris some time to rest, but not before he picked off a Ball State pass and raced 40 yards to the end zone. Those are exactly the kinds of plays the Aggies were looking for under new defensive coordinator John Chavis.

KEON HATCHER

It might seem like a stretch to honor any Arkansas players after an embarrassing loss at home to Toledo, but the senior wide receiver wasn’t the Razorbacks’ problem. Hatcher had his second straight huge game, making seven catches for 92 yards. He’s the SEC’s leading receiver after two weeks and if the Hogs want to avoid any further upsets they need to get Hatcher healthy (he’s out up to 6 weeks due to a foot injury).
