Washington State pulled off an impressive upset on Friday night, knocking off then-No. 5 USC in Pullman.

After the game, the excited home fans rushed the field, leading to one fan getting plowed over by a USC player.

As you can see in the video below, the hit looks intentional and unnecessary, as it appears he went out of his way to hit the fan:

Now, the Trojan in question — redshirt freshman DL Liam Jimmons — may be facing criminal charges, as Washington State police are reviewing the incident.

According to The Spokesman-Review, Jimmons has already been disciplined by USC coach Clay Helton:

“We’re aware of the situation and discipline has been taken and discipline will remain in-house,” Helton said on the Pac-12 teleconference.

However, that may not be enough, as WSU police are considering filing assault charges against Jimmons:

“We are looking into it,” Assistant Chief Steve Hansen said. “We’re still gathering information, talking to witnesses, reaching out to USC to see if we can interview or they’ll interview the player for us. They’ll send it over to the PA’s office and see what they think. Earliest is going to be next week that we get this all combined.”

Frustrations were understandably high for the Trojans after the big loss, but Jimmons needs to do a better job controlling his emotions, and perhaps the situation he faces now will be a good learning experience for him.
