SEC commissioner Greg Sankey does not want to see the College Football Playoff expand, according to a report from Heather Dinich of ESPN.

The commissioner said as much in a Friday meeting with Dinich in Atlanta.

Sankey also reportedly congratulated UCF on its undefeated season, while happily adding that the national championship will indeed be played on Monday night between Alabama and Georgia.

“They have had a remarkable season and congratulations to them,” Sankey said. “I don’t take anything away from them. The national championship will be decided in a game on Monday night between the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia, period. I don’t take anything away from Central Florida’s success.”

Exactly. Good for UCF, but …

“I think we should not be taking away from the significance of what’s being accomplished by those two teams,” Sankey added in regards to the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs. “The committee made the decision, I think an informed decision. Congratulations on the Peach Bowl win, but the selection of semifinalists is based on the entirety of the regular season.”
