Week 13 was wild in the SEC. Two top-10 SEC teams suffered losses as Alabama lost to Oklahoma and Ole Miss fell to Florida. No. 15 Texas A&M also went down, losing to Auburn in a wild 4OT game.
Understandably, Oklahoma and Auburn fans stormed the field after their teams pulled off huge upsets. However, both schools received a fine for the field storming with the Tigers having to pay $100,000 and the Sooners having to pay $200,000.
This is both team’s first offense, which is a $100,000.00 fine. However, the Sooners incurred an additional $100,000 fine due to the fans entering the field before the game was over and delaying the ending.
Regarding the fines, the SEC released the following statement:
“The Southeastern Conference announced today that Auburn University will be fined $100,000 and the University of Oklahoma will be fined $200,000 for violations of the league’s access to competition area policy due to fans entering the field following its football games on November 23.
“Auburn was in violation of the policy following its game against Texas A&M University and will incur a fine of $100,000 for a first offense under the league’s current access to competition area policy that was revised at the SEC Spring Meetings in 2023.
“Oklahoma was in violation of the policy following its game against the University of Alabama and will incur a fine of $100,000 for a first offense under the policy. In addition, Oklahoma will incur an additional fine of $100,000 due to fans entering the field prior to the end of the Alabama game, which caused a delay in the contest.”

The SEC field storming policy was originally introduced in 2004, with amendments to the penalty amounts in 2015 and 2023. These fines are paid directly to the opposing school, so Alabama and Texas A&M will benefit from this ruling.
This is the third time teams have stormed the field after beating Alabama in 2024. Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and now Oklahoma have been fined for storming the field after beating Alabama.
Oklahoma clinched bowl eligibility with their win over Alabama, while Auburn has to win the Iron Bowl to do the same.
