Rookie Rewind: How the SEC’s true freshmen fared in Week 5
Let’s take a team-by-team look at some the true freshmen who made a difference around the SEC in Week 5:
Arkansas: Wide receiver Jared Cornelius finished with 88 yards on six catches. Kendrick Edwards added with 66 yards on three receptions. Cornerback Henre’ Toliver recorded two tackles.
Auburn: Stanton Truitt caught one pass for 12 yards. Roc Thomas added 11 yards on one reception. Tre’ Williams finished with seven tackles and a pass deflection. Nick Ruffin recorded three tackles and a pass deflection.
Georgia: Tailback Nick Chubb recorded 40 rushing yards on 11 attempts and caught one pass for a 20-yard touchdown. Sony Michel rushed for 17 yards on three attempts. Dominick Sanders finished with four tackles. Lorenzo Carter recorded three tackles.
Kentucky: Mikel Horton rushed for 31 yards on six carries. Boom Williams recorded 39 yards and a touchdown on 15 attempts and caught three passes for 39 yards. Dorian Baker ended with 15 yards on two catches. Garrett Johnson had two catches for two yards. T.V. Williams finished with one reception for 15 yards. Charles Walker had one catch for four yards.
LSU: Quarterback Brandon Harris threw for 178 yards and three touchdowns on 11-of-14 passing. He added 36 yards on five attempts. Leonard Fournette rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. He also caught one pass for 33 yards. Darrel Williams added 59 yards on 10 carries and one reception for 11 yards. Malachi Dupre caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. Trey Quinn recorded 46 yards on three receptions.
Ole Miss: Jordan Wilkins rushed for 37 yards on five attempts. Markell Pack caught two passes for 12 yards. Jamal Adams recorded five tackles and a pass deflection. Davon Godchaux finished with four tackles and a forced fumble. Greg Gilmore recorded two tackles.
Missouri: Ish Witter rushed for five yards on one carry. Lawrence Lee caught one pass for eight yards. Thomas Wilson recorded two tackles.
South Carolina: Al Harris Jr. recorded three tackles. D.J. Smith added one tackle.
Tennessee: Jalen Hurd gained a season-best 126 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. Ethan Wolf caught five passes for 69 yards. Josh Malone recorded 43 yards on five receptions and 20 yards on a reverse handoff. Todd Kelly Jr. finished with four tackles and his first career interception. Owen Williams ended with three tackles. Evan Berry recorded his first two career tackles on special teams.
Texas A&M: Speedy Noil recorded 18 total yards (10 rushing, eight receiving) on one catch and one carry. Armani Watts recorded five tackles. Myles Garrett ended with three tackles, including an assisted tackle for loss. Nick Harvey had one tackle.
Vanderbilt: Wade Freebeck recorded 85 yards and three interceptions on 8-of-25 passing. He also rushed for four yards on five attempts. Tre Tarpley had five tackles. Hayden Lekacz recorded one tackle. Nifae Lealao ended with one tackle.
