SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic shares takeaways for each SEC team following Week 3 action
Week 3 in the SEC was an exciting one, particularly in Lexington, where the Florida Gators survived a major scare from the Kentucky Wildcats.
Every Sunday, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic takes to Twitter to share his thoughts about each SEC performance.
This week, there was much to discuss. Below, check out Cubelic’s thoughts on each SEC squad that was in action on Saturday (Vanderbilt had an off week):
ARKANSAS:
Much needed win. Solid performance offensively. QB situation set. RB is set & got a playmaker back healthy at TE. Starkel will continue to grow & allow the offense to add more. Wing able to push tempo will help as well. He gives them much needed explosive play ability— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 15, 2019
FLORIDA:
You go to Lexington without 2 of your best players, lose your QB & find a way to win? That’s big. Trask can make throws but obviously lacks mobility. 4 takeaways from the defense were huge. OL needs to grow up in a hurry. Hammond run will mask a rough night on the ground— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 15, 2019
KENTUCKY:
Bad news; brutal loss. Good news; Stoops has found a way to get his teams to bounce back in these spots. Good start for the QB but have to protect ball late. I love the weapons. Can’t have the flags & turnovers in that kind of game & win. Expected dominance in run game.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 15, 2019
MISSISSIPPI STATE:
Tough one. QB change disrupted rhythm. OL inconsistent. Doubting my thoughts that the front 7 could be a strength of the team. Secondary got lost a little too much. Hill is a top 3 back in the league. Shrader tough as nails but decision making must improve.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 15, 2019
OLE MISS:
Handled their business. Another solid performance by the offense. Starting to see more guys getting involved on offense. Jerrion Ealy showed what he’s all about. OL continues to grow helping grind out drives late in games last two weeks. 4 takeaways & 3 sacks for the D— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 15, 2019
TENNESSEE:
Needed that win in a major way. Take the positives & build. Getting healthier helps. Team looked like they had energy & were flying around. Not always the case at 0-2. Offense is close in many ways. Consistency along the OL will be most important factor for a bowl.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 15, 2019
TEXAS A&M:
Handled their business. Got run game going. Spiller didn’t hesitate as much as last week. Big challenge for that group up next. Mond with a nice bounce back performance. Two OL’s that have not played great ball facing off this week, the better group may get the W— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) September 15, 2019
Week 4 in the SEC features 5 conference games and a game between Georgia and Notre Dame in Athens. Next week’s takeaways are sure to be big ones, so check back next Sunday to see what Cubelic has to say about each team.
