SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic tweets takeaways from SEC's Week 8 action
All 14 SEC teams were in action on Saturday, and all 14 played conference games, making Week 8 a very interesting one.
There were some notable upsets, some ugly games, some bad refereeing and some key injuries. So, on Sunday morning, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic hopped on Twitter to break down what happened.
As you can see below, he tweeted a short takeaway for each team, starting with Alabama and wrapping up with a Vanderbilt squad that picked up a big win over Missouri:
ARKANSAS:
Not dynamic at QB. Not good enough up front to handle that D-line. Liked plan to get O’Grady the ball more. Morris sold out to stay competitive with new, gadget & trick plays. Some worked. Most didn’t. Can’t dig holes with short fields & quick points early. Agim solid— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 20, 2019
FLORIDA:
Ugly game. Tough conditions. Was going to be tough to pitch the ball around & SC is the better ground team but still found a way. Being short handed on defense made it more complicated. LBs played ferocious. Takeaway was key. Good road win vs an improving team.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 20, 2019
KENTUCKY:
Were going to have to be more multiple on offense. Conditions impacted that. Have to loosen box up somehow. Def held on for a bit but just too much late. Going to be tough to win with 2 completions. Schedule sets up for a strong finish if they can repair a few things— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 20, 2019
MISSISSIPPI STATE:
Too many flags, too many turnovers. Hill needs more touches. Found some space offensively with RPO game. Pressure was having some success early on. Liked the plan. Consistency has been common concern. 5 was causing problems up front.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 20, 2019
OLE MISS:
Played hard. Def kept them in it. 13 was great off the edge. 95 & 40 caused problems inside. I don’t like the rotation at QB. We don’t have an evaluation on Plumlee as a passer due to a lack of opportunities. The OL was beat up but battled. Have to cash in on points.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 20, 2019
TENNESSEE:
Team is finding some things & playing hard for Pruitt. Flags & turnovers were too much. Needed a clean game. OL continues to grow. QB situation made it a little more difficult. QB sneak deal was brutal. Growing but overall still lack continuity. I appreciate the fight— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 20, 2019
VANDERBILT:
Massive win for Mason. Most everybody counted them out. Surprise move at QB paid off. Vaughn being more of the focal point allows them to build & attach offensively. Able to slow down a really good offense. QB situation will be intriguing. Front 7 much more disruptive— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 20, 2019
Next week, Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt are all off. However, 10 SEC teams will be in action, so tune in next Sunday to see what Cubelic says about Week 9.
