The power rankings changed after a chaotic weekend that saw a power shift in the SEC West.

The elite teams are starting to separate themselves from others, and Ole Miss is this week’s biggest winner, after it ended Alabama’s impressive 17-game home winning streak snapped, along with the LSU Tigers, who thumped Auburn.

Here are the Week 3 power rankings, as voted on by our staff:

Projected out of a bowl game

14. Vanderbilt Commodores (-)
13. South Carolina Gamecocks (-)
12. Arkansas Razorbacks (-2)

Thanks to South Carolina, Vanderbilt may make a move up the power rankings this season, as the Commodores are coming off their first win of the year. While many point to the offensive struggles, the defense has looked very good through three weeks…Is South Carolina in danger of being the “worst” SEC team this season? The Gamecocks were destroyed by Georgia in every facet of the game. How many positives does the South Carolina program have moving forward? No doubt, this team is Steve Spurrier’s toughest challenge yet…Arkansas can’t buy a win right now, and Bret Bielema continues to hear it from everyone around college football. This week, it was Kliff Kingsbury’s turn to let Bielema hear it.

East Trio

11. Kentucky Wildcats (-)
10. Florida Gators (+2)
9. Missouri Tigers (-)

Kentucky just lost its 29th straight game against the Gators, and the last two years have been the Cats’ best chance at breaking the streak…Florida isn’t a great football team yet, but the Gators are sitting 3-0 heading into the Tennessee game. UF has beaten the Vols 10 straight games, which is altogether amazing. The Gators will continue to rely on their talented defensive line…Missouri has some serious offensive struggles without Russell Hansbrough, but thanks to a favorable schedule, the Tigers will continue to make a run at the SEC East.

Middle of the pack

8. Auburn Tigers (-2)
7. Mississippi State Bulldogs (+1)
6. Tennessee Volunteers (+1)

How could everyone have been so wrong about Auburn and Jeremy Johnson? Guilty as charged. The Tigers are the conference’ most disappointing team through three weeks…Mississippi State’s loss to LSU certainly doesn’t look that bad now, but things get tough as the Bulldogs face back-to-back road games against SEC West opponents, Auburn and Texas A&M…Tennessee and Butch Jones are facing a must-win game against Florida Saturday. This is no doubt Jones’ biggest game of his tenure, and the SEC East will have a little separation.

SEC West hunt

5. Texas A&M Aggies (-1)
4. Alabama Crimson Tide (-3)
3. LSU Tigers (+2)

Texas A&M is college football’s most exciting team through three weeks, and one of the most impressive aspects is the defensive line. John Chavis has done to the Aggies what everyone thought Will Muschamp would do to Auburn — make them into a contender. It gets real this week against Arkansas, the Aggies’ first SEC opponent of the season…Alabama suffered a tough loss, but all hope isn’t lost. Jake Coker gives the offense optimism, but the Crimson Tide’s defense giving up 40 points at home is the most surprising. Spread offenses continue to give Nick Saban fits…Aside from Ole Miss, LSU had the best win of the week, pounding Auburn into submission. If the Tigers can at least get a threat at the quarterback position from Brandon Harris, this team could be the toughest to beat in the league.

Division favorites

2. Georgia Bulldogs (-)
1. Ole Miss Rebels (+2)

The Georgia Bulldogs thumped South Carolina over the weekend, and you know that had to feel good for Mark Richt. Steve Spurrier has given Richt and UGA fits over the last several years, but the talent gap has never been been wider. UGA is still the favorite to win the SEC East…Ole Miss jumps up two spots this week to No. 1 following the huge win at Alabama. With Chad Kelly’s arm a major threat, Ole Miss may be the league’s most complete team. The Rebels also have the SEC’s best win thus far.
