Last year, Washington WR John Ross ran the 40-yard dash in 4.22 seconds, breaking Chris Johnson’s record of 4.24 seconds.

However, this year, there will be plenty of players capable of making sure Ross’s record is short-lived when the NFL Combine gets underway at the end of the month.

On Monday, NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah listed five players who could break the record, and two SEC players made the cut.

According to Jeremiah, LSU DB Donte Jackson is the favorite to beat 4.22 seconds, with Alabama DB Tony Brown coming in third place.

Both Jackson and Brown also have collegiate track experience, which is important when it comes to sprints like this. Just getting off the starting line is where players lose a lot of time, and Jackson and Brown should be two of the best in that department this year.
