A 4-star linebacker out of Manassas, Virginia has announced an SEC-heavy top five.

Shawn Murphy, who is 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds is listed as the No. 6 linebacker in the country in the Class of 2022, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 2 player in the state of Virginia. He has a reported 45 offers, and announced his top five as Alabama, LSU, Florida, Penn State, Ohio State.

Earlier in his recruitment, he had a top eight, but schools like Oklahoma, Oregon and Clemson dropped off with this list.

He recently recapped his visit to Alabama.

“I worked out and I for sure impressed all the coaches and opened a lot of eyes,” he said, per Bama OnLine. “I also solidified why I’m the number one ‘backer on the recruiting board and why I’m one of the top defensive players as well. So I guess I could say I murdered it.”

Earlier, he reviewed a visit to LSU.

“They new (defensive) coaching staff, they are really nice people,” Murphy told 247Sports. “I like the coaching staff at LSU more now.”
