Stewart over the weekend had an official visit at Miami over the weekend, and before that, coaches from Texas A&M and Georgia were set to take in-home visits with Stewart, 247Sports reported.
The same report noted that Texas A&M is seen as the longtime favorite for Stewart. All 5 predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball point to the Aggies. Stewart took an official visit to Texas A&M during the season and was back on campus Dec. 10 for an unofficial visit. The Aggies are closing in on the best class in 247Sports history. Landing Stewart would be a big part of that.
“He’s thinking he’s got to go in there on Thursday and close the deal,” 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong said of Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher. “He’s taking his in-home visit later this week to sit down with Shemar Stewart who Texas A&M has led for for much of the process. He’s been to College Station several times and he’s a key piece to a potentially historic class for the Aggies. Right now they’re trending for the No. 1 recruiting class in 247Sports history, which would eclipse what Alabama signed last year. They need Shemar Stewart and they need to keep Harold Perkins, a five-star linebacker, to do that. I still like Texas A&M’s position. They sent a bunch of coaches in there last week. But Shemar’s certainly got his eye on a couple other schools and this could go a couple different ways.”
He visited Georgia over the weekend for an official visit and also visited with Bulldogs co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp last week. Georgia coach Kirby Smart is expected to go in-home with Stewart over the next few days.
