University president releases statement on Miami-Duke ending: 'Teams fought hard, we won'

University of Miami president Julio Frenk released a statement Friday that likely won’t be well-received regarding the Hurricanes’ oft-scrutinized win over Duke last weekend.

Frenk isn’t happy that the ‘legitimacy’ of his football program’s win in Durham has been questioned, despite the ACC admitting to several officiating mistakes during the wild final play of regulation.

“Let me be clear,” Frenk writes, “Both teams fought hard and at the highest levels of competition, and in the end, the University of Miami won.”
